Gençler Snowboard
Şampiyonası’nın yeterin-
ce ilgi çekmemesinin se-
bebi nedir
?
“Federasyon yönetimi-
miz bir ilke daha imza ata-
rak 01-11 Mart 2013 tarihle-
rinde Erzurum’da Snowboard
Gençler Dünya Şampiyonası
düzenlemiş ve 34 ülke-
den dünyanın en iyi 400
genç snowboard sporcu-
sunu Erzurum’a getirmiştir.
Halkımızın tamamen ilgisiz kal-
dığını söylemek çok doğru ol-
maz diye düşünüyorum. Ancak
ilginin daha fazla olmasını
bekliyorduk. Bu durum ülke-
mizdeki spor kültürü ile doğ-
ru orantıda ilerliyor. Hepimizin
bildiği gibi ülkemizde amatör
sporlar çok fazla seyirci topla-
yamıyor. İlgiyi artırmak çeşitli
yan etkinliklerle mümkün ola-
bilirdi. Bu da tamamen mali
olanaklarla doğru orantıdadır.”
You have started skiing
when you were 11 years
old. What age group do
you think is most appro-
priate to start the sport
in Turkey?
“I feel to have been very
lucky in this respect because
I started skiing when I was
four and with my family’s as-
sistance, I had the chance to
compete for many years. I
think one should start skiing
at an early age if we’re talking
about raising athletes. Today,
officially, starting age is ac-
cepted as 6 and 8 as the age
for licensed competitions. But
if you look at it from a touristic
point of view, one may learn
to ski and exercise this sport
with pleasure as long as his
or her physical condition and
health permits, like they say;
from 7 to 70. Let me tell you
our slogan that we say quite
frequently: ‘Anyone who can
walk can ski.”
If you, as a licensed
skier, make a compari-
son with the old times,
can one say that the im-
portance of the support
by the sponsors is felt
more nowadays?
“It is very difficult to com-
pare my era with the present
times. There are great chang-
es and developments in the

Kayak sporuna 11 ya-
şında adım attınız.
Türkiye’de kayak sporu-
na başlamak için han-
gi yaş aralıklarının uy-
gun ya da geç olduğu-
nu düşünüyorsunuz?
“Ben bu konuda kendimi ol-
dukça şanslı hissediyorum
çünkü kayak sporuyla henüz
dört yaşında tanıştım ve aile-
min desteği ile uzun yıllar bu
branşta yarışma şansı buldum.
Amacımız sporcu yetiştirmekse,
kayak sporuna erken yaşlarda
başlamak gerekir. Günümüzde
kayak sporuna resmi olarak
başlama yaşı altı, lisanslı yarış-
ma yaşı ise sekizdir. Ancak, tu-
ristik manada düşünürseniz
halk arasındaki tabirle 7’den
70’e her yaş kesiminden halkı-
mız gönül rahatlığı ile kayağı
öğrenebilir ve fiziksel durumu
ile sağlık şartları uygun olduğu
sürece bu sporu keyifle yapa-
bilir. Buradan bizim çok sık kul-
landığımız bir slogan var onu
ifade edeyim; Yürüyebilen her-
kes kayak yapabilir.”
Eski bir lisanslı kayak
sporcusu olarak, ken-
di döneminizden bugü-
ne doğru bir değerlendir-
me yaparsak sponsor des-
teğinin varlığı artık daha
kuvvetli hissediliyor diye-
bilir miyiz?
“Benim dönemimle şimdiki
dönemi kıyaslamak gerçekten
çok zor. Kullanılan kayak mal-
zemeleri, kıyafetler, hazırlanan
kayak merkezleri, mekanik te-
sisler, pist hazırlama araçları
gibi bir çok noktada çok büyük
değişimler ve gelişmeler var.
Yukarıda bahsettiğimiz gibi biz
artık kış oyunları düzenleyecek
ways of equipment, wears, ski
centres, mechanical installa-
tions, track preparing machin-
ery etc. As we said before, we
now own facilities and tech-
nical teams fit to organize any
winter games. When you look
at the matter from the point
of view of sponsorship, it was
not possible even to mention it
in my times. Sponsorship sup-
port is increasing day by day,
thanks to new regulations by
the Government.”
Why do you think 2013
FIS Snowboard Junior
World Championships, or-
ganized in March with
some 400 participants
from 34 nations, did not
arouse much interest?
“Our Federation organized
the 2013 FIS Snowboard Junior
World Championships, for the
first time, on 1-11 March 2013
and brought the world’s best
400 young snowboarders to
Erzurum. I rather would not say
that the public showed no in-
terest, however we did expect
somewhat more attention. I
think that has to do something
with the level of sport culture
of the country. As we all know,
the amateur sports do not at-
tract many spectators. Some
side-events would have in-
creased the interest but then,
this is directly proportional
with the fiscal means.”
What are your plans re-
garding the legacy and
long term regular us-
age of the facilities con-
structed for the 2011
Winter Universiade?
“As I said before, our ad-
ministration, fully aware of
its responsibility to organ-
ize new events, hosted the
FIS Junior Nordic World Ski
Championships in 2012 and
FIS Snowboard Junior World
Championships in 2013.
