uz pateni, buzlu zemin-
de altı kızaklı patenle ka-
yarak yapılan estetik yönün ön
planda yer aldığı bir spor da-
lıdır. Artistik buz pateni ise bi-
reysel, çift ya da grup ola-
rak buz üstünde dönüş, atla-
yış, kaldırış, adım dizisi gibi ha-
reketlerin yapıldığı bir olimpi-
yat sporudur. Patenler, 3-4 mi-
limetre genişliğinde çeliklerin
vidalanması yardımıyla buzun
üzerinde kolay kaymayı sağla-
maktadır. Durmak, sıçramak ve
güç sağlamak, çelik kısımla-
rın önüne çakılı olan altı adet
çıkıntı sayesinde kolaylaştı-
rılmıştır. Buz pateninde çift-
ler, aralarında sabit bir mesa-
fe koruyarak buz üstünde bir-
birlerine yakın durmalıdır. Her
dansın müziğiyle uyumu ve ta-
kımlar halindeki hareketle-
ri tek vücut olarak ne kadar iyi
ve nasıl icra ettikleri üzerinden
değerlendirilirler. Buz dan-
sı üç evreye sahiptir. Zorunlu
dans Uluslararası Buz Pateni
Federasyonu (ISU) tarafından
belirlenir. Çiftler, müziğin tem-
posuna ve ritmine uygun hare-
ketler sergilemek zorundadır.
Orijinal danstaysa, çiftler ken-
dilerine ait bir koreografi ile
müzik eşliğinde gerekli hare-
ketleri sergilerler. Dansın ritmi

original dance, where a mu-
sical “theme” is given for all
teams, but they skate differ-
ent programs and can pick
their music within the theme
and the free dance, where
the musical theme is more
open, and dancers can struc-
ture the program to suit their
style as a team. Originality is
awarded by the jury. Ice skat-
ing is done in rinks with the
Olympic measurement of
30x60 meters.
History
The first depiction of ice skat-
ing was seen first in a work
of art by the Dutch artist
Johannes Brugman made in
the 15
th
Century. Brugman’s
painting shows a saint fall-
ing, ice skating. We see that
ice skating began in those
countries richly endowed with
lakes. Ice skating was wide-
spread in Europe during ear-
ly Renaissance. Skating people
were pictured in many works
of art. Ice skating surfaces
ISU tarafından belirlenir ve

Tarihçe
Buz patenine ilk kez 15.
yüzyılda Hollandalı
ressam Johannes
Brugman’ın bir
eserinde rast-
lanmıştır.
Brugman,
buz üze-
rinde ka-
yarken düşen bir
azizeyi resmetmiştir. Buz
pateninin tarihteki seyri-
ne baktığımızda ise, için-
de göller olan ülkelerde ya-
pılmaya başlandığına rastla-
rız. Özellikle Rönesans’ın baş-
lamasıyla, buz pateni kıta

Figure skating is an Olympic
sport in which individuals,
pairs or groups perform spins,
jumps, throws footwork and
other intricate and challeng-
ing moves on ice skates. The
blades screwed to the boot,
enabling smooth sliding on
the ice, can be 3 to 4
millimetres in width
and stopping,
jumping etc. is made
easier with
six spurs
mounted
at the front.
Pairs in figure skat-
ing stay close to
each other and keep
a fixed distance be-
tween them. They are
evaluated in their har-
mony with the mu-
sic and unison in per-
formance and execu-
tion as if they were a
